DDA Building Services Consulting Engineers are employed to undertake the complete M&E design for a number of new build, and shell fitouts for Yo!

Founded in 1997, YO! Sushi brought the concept of a Japanese 'kaiten’ conveyor belt sushi bar that delivered food to customers in a fun fresh way, and became the original and most famous sushi brand in the UK.

Despite being one of the country’s biggest restaurant chains, Yo! Sushi felt that they never had a particularly memorable aesthetic beyond its distinctive logo, conveyor belt set-up and brightly coloured furniture. Placing less emphasis on sushi, a recent brand refresh puts much more emphasis on Tokyo street food.

The new designs aim to highlight the origins of the brand’s food and re-position Yo! as a place to experience “a true taste of modern Tokyo” taking the customer experience to the next level. A-boards, menu boards and window wraps featured in the launch campaign and the brand’s menu has been reconfigured as a newspaper/zine, which features content on Tokyo music, fashion and art.

DDA’s lighting concept highlights authentic interior graphics inspired by anime and manga culture. New menus and staff uniforms and the chain’s new strapline ‘This is Tokyo’ gives Yo! much clearer positioning and the brand a distinctive set of assets that are being rolled out across its growing number of restaurants using digital channels as an essential part of enhancing the customer experience.

With restaurants in the UK from Aberdeen to Plymouth, Yo! is a nationally loved brand. DDA has been proud to be part of their journey to date, completing a substantial number of these bespoke restaurants, all maintaining the Yo! feel and concept.
